Details

Frenchic Al Fresco Hot Lips offers a matte finish that is self-priming and self-sealing, eliminating the need for separate primers or sealants. It's a water-based formula that is perfect for furniture, woodwork, and even surfaces like laminate, metal, and ceramic wall tiles, making it a multipurpose solution for all your painting needs. Suitable for everything from kitchen cupboards to front doors and even interior wood and concrete floors, this paint adapts to your various project requirements with ease.

The Technical Stuff: Hot Lips is safe for children's toys, holding EN71-3 certification. Each 750ml tin covers up to 12.5m² with one coat, but for optimal durability, at least two coats are recommended, providing full coverage for approximately 6m² on non-porous surfaces. The actual coverage may vary depending on the porosity of the surface and application method.

Emporium Expert Tips: To maximise the impact of Hot Lips, consider pairing it with neutral tones to let its vibrant red pop, or juxtapose it with contrasting shades to create a dynamic visual effect. This colour is particularly effective for making a bold statement in focal areas such as front doors or accent walls. It also works well in adding a touch of elegance and vitality to garden furniture and accessories, bringing a spirited flair to outdoor living spaces.

uses for Al Fresco paint

Frenchic Al Fresco paint has a moisture barrier built in which makes it suitable not only for kitchens and bathrooms, but outdoor furniture and even UPVC doors and windows

why use a Frenchic brush?

Frenchic paint brushes are handcrafted in Italy using time honoured methods and traditions. Our traditional Oval brushes are made with a careful ratio of natural bristle to synthetic fibre and with a high density of bristles, they are made particularly for optimal chalk paint ‘pick-up’.

good to know

coverage

  • A 750ml tin will provide a coat of up to 12.5m². For a durable finish, a minimum of 2 coats is required, so your 750ml tin should provide full coverage for 6m² on non-porous surfaces
  • Thinner application may affect durability
  • Porous surfaces will affect the rate of coverage and require additional coats
  • Always ensure you have enough paint for your whole project. When more than 1 tin of the same colour is needed, it is good practice to ensure batch numbers are identical or to intermix batches prior to commencing painting

suitable for

Multipurpose paint for interior and exterior use. Recommended for furniture and woodwork. Laminate, powder-coated radiators, metal, uPVC, ceramic wall tiles (we recommend avoiding very wet areas like showers/bath surrounds), kitchen cupboards, front doors and interior wood and concrete floors.

  • Contains: Chalk, Clay, Titanium Dioxide, Resin, Talcum, Preservative

preparation

  • Ensure surfaces are in suitable condition for painting and clean, dry, free from wax, grease or penetrating substances and in sound condition. If previously painted, remove loose or flaking paint. Fill any holes/imperfections with a suitable filler
  • Remove any rust and apply a suitable metal primer - also apply primer to bare ferrous (iron based) metal
  • Recommended surface preparation in addition to the above – clean with Frenchic Sugar Soap, rinse, dry, hand-sand sufficiently to abrade the surface and/or to smooth any protrusions after filling. Wipe off any dust
  • You can watch our video on how to prep surfaces for painting here
  • To promote a smooth finish, treat porous surfaces like bare MDF, with an application of 2 coats of Tuff Top Coat prior to painting
  • Exterior wooden surfaces in particular can retain moisture for up to 48 hours after rainfall or preparation. Ensure the surfaces are thoroughly dry prior to painting
  • Take care on opening the tin lid – a Frenchic tin opener is recommended
  • Stir thoroughly with a wide implement, such as a Paint Paddle, prior to each use
